Serology

Serology is used to detect the presence of antibodies in a person’s blood that have been produced in response to an infection or vaccination. These antibodies are proteins that help the immune system recognize and fight off specific pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria.

Serology tests are used to diagnose infectious diseases, such as hepatitis, HIV, and COVID-19. They may also be used to evaluate the immune response to vaccinations and determine the immune status of an individual. Serology tests can help healthcare providers determine if a person has been infected with a particular pathogen and whether they have developed immunity to it.
